The primary focus for Middle School play this fall will be school-based, yet AYU will be hosting middle school scrimmage days throughout the front range. This will provide offer playing opportunities to anyone without a school program while allowing schools to host their own practices and teams. These scrimmage days will consist of one hour of coach-led drills and skills development followed by one hour of gameplay.
We expect to host these scrimmages at various parks in the following areas: Boulder, Denver - East (City Park), & Fort Collins. We will also host a learn-to-play league in the Aurora area throughout the fall. We will also look to provide clinics or informal playing opportunities in other areas.
Scrimmages will begin the weekend of Sept. 18th and will go through Oct. 30th (expected six weeks of play so there is one week buffer in case of weather cancelations).
There will then be a middle school tournament the weekend of Nov. 6th - we anticipate teams at the tournament will consist of schools with their own programs or teams made up of players from the scrimmages who do not attend a school with an Ultimate program.
Depending on numbers, players will be to divide up to play with similar grades (5th/6th graders & 7th/8th graders together). We also will plan to host a girls scrimmage at each location as well!
